Behind the Scenes: My Journey in Commercial Production

Thirteen years ago, I never could have imagined the opportunities this career as a makeup artist

would bring. I didn't know the possibilities of Kim Clark Artistry! What began as a need to learn how to do my own makeup has grown into a profession that allows me to collaborate with an incredible range of people; from local business owners and entrepreneurs to high-profile, high-visibility clients.

Every gig offers new insight, sharper skills, and a deeper understanding of how makeup supports

a larger creative vision. For that, I’m extremely grateful.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with brands and organizations like CNBC,

ESPN, the City of Houston, Shell, Chevron, TDECU, and Harris Health. Many of which

thanks to Houston Production companies such as, Twice Media and The StoryHive.

My work has also appeared on published book covers—a thrill that never gets old. There’s

nothing quite like picking up a printed book and seeing the work you’ve helped to create.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned about commercial production, it’s that preparation and

professionalism are everything. Staying prepared, confident, and reliable is key. Flexibility is

paramount, because schedules shift and creative direction can change in an instant. And of

course, set etiquette is non-negotiable—it’s the foundation of a smooth, collaborative shoot.

I’m proud to share a selection of the commercials and publications that I’ve worked on below. I

hope they give you a glimpse into the artistry and teamwork that make this work so rewarding.
